It is august 22/ 2007. I have now applied for the 2nd passport in the last 2 years. Mr Ripley the 120lb Ridgeback did not want me to take this trip. Hmmmmmm maybe an omen, he did only eat a small amount of the passport rendering it VOID!
I have a book called Islam 101 and 10 CD discs saved to my Ipod ready for me to get into the Arabic language. Sandals are purchased, keen is the way to go as I have done some nasty damage to my toes in past trips.
The backpack is a Osprey 35 litre pack. very light and breaths very well. I got some great shoes for hiking and some lightweight pants for the heat. The only other bag will be my nikon D80 and a over the shoulder camera bag. My forst trip to europe in 1989 was a 95 litre backpack... never again will I bring everything. Hot climates mean you can wash your clothes and they will be dry in hours.
This trip is a EPIC trip as I know very little at this point about the world I will see. .
This Blogg site will keep my family and friends updated to where I am and the places I've been.
In addition I plan to add my GPS location so you can track me using http://www.google.earth.com/ or any other site you wish.
the adventure begins
