Instructions for tracking my location via GPS

Dear friends. One more day. Flight to Amsterdam at 6:55 Pm pacific coast time on KLM. 9 hour flight. Hope to meet up with Vincent for a few drinks downtown. This will be 3 AM pacific time.

Hope to catch a bit of ZZZZ on the plane. 7.5 hour stop over not long enough to get a feel for Amsterdam.
Next entry will be from Turkey. Purchase a Garmin Etrex Vista Cx GPS unit to track the trip and will place entries on each blog.

To track my locations:
Go to google earth, download free software http://earth.google.com
Go to main menu
Click on "add"
Click on "placemark"
Enter name eg "jay day 3 "
Enter Latitude and then longitude that I will provide.

(example I will give you LAT: 49 13.948N / LONG: 123 09.592W)
this will automatically convert to degrees, minutes and seconds for my exact location.

This will place a pin mark of where I am and revert back to the main picture of the globe
To zoom in to see the pin mark, double click on the globe once it appears.
This will zoom into my location.

Please try it out for fun - these coordinates above are my starting point in Vancouver.
